Welcome to Galilee's Youth Page

GLOW

GLOW will be held on February 1, 8 and 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM.

BAPTISM

Katie and Gina Kelly were baptized during the worship service on January 22, 2012. No
strangers to Galilee, these sisters have been regular participants in GLOW (Galilee Live on Wednesday) for about three years. They have also been attending Sunday services for about two years at which Katie has
been serving as acolyte.

Baptism at Galilee

The girls’ mother, Theresa Hofford, was present at the baptisms, as well as other members of their extended family. Jim Zrust, long time member of Galilee and GLOW volunteer, stood up as the girls’ sponsor.

FIRST COMMUNION

If you know of any children who are ready to receive their first communion, please contact Pastor Ralph.  According to the guidelines approved by the church council, children may receive their first communion when they desire to do so along with the approval of their parents.  Both the child and at least one parent will meet with Pastor Ralph for orientation and preparation before receiving the sacrament.  Please contact Pastor Ralph if you are interested or if you have any questions 651-488-6769 (church office), or 651-260-0669 (cell phone).

ACOLYTES NEEDED

We are in need of volunteers who would like to join our group of acolytes. No experience is necessary; training will be provided. Please call the church office at 651-488-6769 for more information.

BOWLING PARTY!

Everyone at Galilee is invited to join the GLOW kids for a FUN bowling night, Friday February 3, 2012.

bowling party

We will meet a church at 5:30 PM and carpool to St. Francis bowling lanes (St. Bernard's has closed down).
Bring some snacks and your sense of humor.
This is a great chance to polish up the old bowling ball and meet some neighborhood kids. Let Ron (651-483-2394) or Terry (651-429-4039) know if you are coming.

VBS

With gratitude, we thank Jo Ann French, Terry O’Keefe, Lou Wanna Osterman, Pastor Ralph, Christena Watson, Jim Zrust, and Eldre Westegaard for leading VBS at Galilee August 1-4. Thanks also to volunteers Joy Brown, Anthony & Paula Brown, Sharell Babin, and our wonderful custodians.

YOUTH GLOBAL MISSION OFFERING

Global Mission Offering

In 2011 the offering collected in the Children’s Globe supported God’s Global Barnyard, a program sponsored by the ELCA. An animal can make a world of difference for a family in need. Animals provide food to eat, fertilizer to grow crops, and offspring to sell at the market. Our globe offering can help a family escape the cycle of hunger and poverty for good.

2011 Donations collected = $521.52

Here are some examples of what our donations can provide:

$10 – Chicks
Eggs from chickens make nutritious meals for hungry families. Extra eggs generate extra income.
Chicks
$30 – Pig
Within months after birth, piglets grow to weigh a couple hundred pounds – bringing a big payoff at the market.

$125 – Sheep
Wool from sheep can be made into clothing and sold on the market to provide a steady source of income.

$500 – Cow
A cow’s milk, meat, fertilizer and calves can quickly strengthen a family’s financial security.
