Hi!  One thing I learn better and better in my life as a musician is that everyone has, and is entitled to, their own opinion of music.  Nobody’s right, nobody’s wrong, yet music preferences have split churches.  Music is a powerful art, a gift from God that touches a part of us that words cannot.  And when we combine it with words, it can make the words come alive.

In addition to having an opinion about what music they like or dislike, everyone has an opportunity to make music in the church.  For me, that’s the most satisfying part of church music; I love to hear the congregation and choir sing.  It’s very important that we keep singing; music should not only be heard!

As the worship planner at Galilee, I’ll admit to choosing music I like, whether only a little or a lot, if it fits in with the scriptures to be read on a particular Sunday.  But I always use the hymns that people in the congregation suggest, so write to me!  Send me a list of your favorite hymns.  Come on Sunday mornings and sing them in worship to our God!
